Nestus Mine, Matlock Bath

An inscription chiselled on a patch of bare rock
high on the wall of the workings in Carding's
Nestus Mine, close to the rear entrance of
Masson Cavern. The initials seem to be:
                        EW
                     IF TW
                     MF
                   1705 BY
The author is trying to trace these names in
the Parish Registers of Wirksworth or Matlock.
Nestus Mine is halfway up Masson Hill, about
1,000 feet West of the River Derwent and
Matlock Bath.
